Update!

So, I know, I know...It has been almost four whole days since I last posted! Bad Blogger! A lot has been going on this week! I had another job interview on Thursday and Charles came into port on Friday. He was only supposed to be in for the weekend, but as it turns out they will be in for the week (hopefully!) I will believe it when I see it.
Today we just vegged out...(you know, laid like brocolli!). We have been couch taters...and I honestly can't say it has been that bad. Charles has duty tomorrow so I won't see him until Monday night.
I am going to be starting work this week and I am very excited to be making the extra money. Life is so much easier when I work and there is even money to spend on "little extras". I will start out at $22 an hour and will most likely be working eight hour shifts. I am going to be working at Tripler Army Hospital, which is about three miles or so from my house. You can google Tripler if you want to see it! It's a big pink hospital on a small mountain.
So I've almost got my house just the way I like it...those of you that know me, know that I am always changing things and rearranging around the house. I usually involved in some kind of crazy creative idea that I either saw in a magzine or "dreamed" up! Luckily, I have a best friend that shares the same habit. Going back to work will definitely put a dent in our daily shenanigans!
I want to say congratulations to Kristen and Paul McDonald on their six year anniversary today! There is another anniversary coming up on June 1. Ashley and Charles Freeman will be celebrating their two years of marriage! Congratulations!
Just a few FYI's...Premium gas at the Navy gas station was $2.79 tonight. And for everyone that thinks that milk is $8 a gallon out here-its NOT! It tends to run anywhere from $3.80 - $6.00, depending on what type you buy (regular or organic). I just wanted to clear that up. I also wanted to give myself a nice pat on the back for my super savings coupon trip to the commissary on Thursday. I went to pick up some groceries for the weekend since Charles was coming home...My bill added up to be $118 and some change...after the cashier deducted the discounts from the 22 coupons that I had saved, my final bill came out to be $98! WOW! What a savings! Over twenty dollars or 17% of the total bill! I am beginning to be such a money conscious grocery shopper. ( I owe all my knowledge to the coupon queen...Mrs. Kristen McDonald!) Thank you for all the coupon consultations! Ha Ha!
Good night now...I am going to get ready for bed. I hope you tune in for more updates!

Hale Koa Luau

Last night I went to my first luau down in Waikiki at the Hale Koa Hotel. I went with a group of wives from the boat so it was pretty fun. I have never been to a luau before, so I wasn't too sure what to expect. It was phenomenal! The performers are so talented and put on an amazing show.
There was tree climbing, and pig eating and dancing and hula and fire. I was so impressed by each different part of the show. There was even a 9 year old boy that was a "world champion" keiki fire dancer. He was nine and dancing with fire rather quickly! It was neat to see how much talent he already has at such a young age.
Since it was Memorial Day, (and we were at a military hotel) they did a special recognition for all the people who served and their families. It was nice how much they showed their appreciation. I love Hawaii. I love the island and I love the people. I will definitely have to go again...but maybe next time Charles will be able to come too!
I will try to get the videos and pics up as soon as I can...They are great, but don't really do it all justice...Check back to watch them!

Mongoose Hunt...

This mongoose was sooo cute...I wish he wouldn't have been so skiddish...He would peek his head out of the log and look to see if I was still there. It was so funny to see his reaction when he saw me...He couldn't back up fast enough into his little log. In the original video, you could see him, but it loaded pretty fuzzy...

There are two really good ones of a pink plumeria tree and some other things...I hope everyone enjoys...

Navy Pay...

So I just found out that our paycheck has been fixed and it should come through on the first of the month. Yay! I am so happy that the Navy finally did what they should have done a long time ago...No more scrimping...at least for now! Now all we are missing is our reimbursement for travel and quarantine fees...Hopefully, that will come through soon.

Super Sore...

Good Morning,
Wow! I am sore in places that I didn't even know existed! That Zumba is a real workout! So what does everyone think about the blog idea? It seems to be working pretty well for me and it is very user-friendly...which is nice. Hopefully soon, I will be able to do a video tour of the house so you all can see it! Not now though, its a wreck. I will blog more later...stay tuned!

Some Hawaii Pics...

Here are some pics of us in Hawaii...Some of me and my bestest and some of me and Charles...Don't worry-there will be more...

UGH!

Charles just called from the boat on his cell. Then it died. After only five or six seconds. Gosh, how many times do I have to tell him to keep it charged. He never does...It makes me UGH! Angry. I hope he calls back.

UPDATE: He called back like a good boy.

Waiting to see daddy...

Here's Bourb waiting to see the sub pass today...He's such a good boy...SOMETIMES!

USS Jax Sighting...May 21, 2009

This was from earlier today...It's kind of neat to watch the boat pass by...They look so important!

Wednesday...Hump Day...

So today has been a good day so far. Got up early and went to my first Yoga class @ 9am with my bestie, Kristen. I have decided that yoga is a very challenging workout. So after yoga, I made the bestie stop at Byron's. Byron's is this "hole in the wall" drive inn place that is open 24 hrs and has everything that you could possibly think of on the menu. I had the usual: One order of fried pickles, one fried oyster sandwich and a small pepsi. It was amazing.

Later on, we got word from the captain that the boat would be passing by later on....so as usual, we high-tailed it down to the base to watch them pass. Any glimpse of them gives us at least a good feeling. We can always wish, right? Oh, did I mention we had the dogs with us? Bourbon, Angus, and Goose (Kristen's babies) all piled in the back of the jeep bumbling quickly to the lookout point. We are such the little fan base I tell you! So I will be uploading some more videos from today's sub sighting.

I just got back from the gym...did some stuff then took a "zumba" class...I know...it sounds weird, but it is super fun. You dance around a lot and it takes some real coordination (which I am working on). I think we will be going back. So now I'm pooped...and I'm going to wind down. Stay tuned...
