Almost October...

Wow, can you believe it? It's almost October. Soon it will be Halloween then Thanksgiving then Christmas. Time is flying by so quickly. Can you believe that we have already lived in Hawaii for six entire months? It seems like we have been here for even longer. I can't wait until we can get back home and be "normal" so to say. We are so far away from everything and everyone right now. We only have 30 more months. Join our countdown!
I hope everyone is doing well. Sorry that I haven't posted many (or any) photos lately. My digital camera lens is acting up and I haven't been taking any pics lately. I will work on it and try to get some sort of photos up soon. We haven't been going many interesting places lately so I don't have any interesting pictures right now.
Bourbon and the kitties are doing great. My car is here and I am still so happy about that. It is so much easier to get around and up and down all the mountains here. It makes my life so much easier.
The weekend flew by so quickly and once again I didn't accomplish much at all. Saturday I rode around for awhile with my friend Cassie from work looking for some good garage sales. We didn't have as much luck as I did the weekend before. I got a really nice tape measure for .50 cents though. Cassie got a plant stand.
There was no eating out this weekend. We stayed in the whole time. Charles had duty yesterday, so I literally laid on the sofa the ENTIRE day and took lots of naps with Bourbon. He always thinks he has to lay right there on top of me. Silly pup.
I finally replaced the herbs that had died. My little herbs were doing fine until my dad came and "trimmed" them. I tried to tell him that you aren't supposed to trim herbs like that. They all died. Thanks dad! But not to fret, I got some new ones and hopefully no one will be attacking them with scissors any time soon!
Last weekend was the Wings Over the Pacific Air Show at the Air Force Base. We live right outside base, so we were able to watch the show from our backyard. There were jets doing spins and flips and such. So fun to watch!
I moved my guest room around and I think it looks so much roomier in there. I am excited to finish it and get it all cleaned up. My house is a wreck and that is totally not my style. It drives me crazy when my house is messy and lately it has stayed that way. Yuck. That's part of the fun of having a husband home. Give and take, you know?
Well, I'm at work now. Starting yet another week. I better go and get back to what they are paying me for. Have a wonderful week!

Bourbon the Bagel Thief...

So, there was this bagel. The last bagel in the entire fridge. I really wanted this bagel really badly. So I spread my cream cheese carefully on my bagel and put it back together. I turned around to make my lunch and when I turned back around the bagel was GONE. It was Bourbon the bagel thief. I should have known. I was very sad and Bourbon hid.
The End.

Aloha!

Aloha!
So it's Tuesday...Charles had duty last night, so I drove down to the boat to see him for a few minutes. Bourbon and I also tried to go to the dog park yesterday afternoon. When I drove by from work, there were tons of dogs playing. By the time I went and picked him up though, they had all left so there were no dogs for Bourb to play with. He was so sad. But at least he got a good ride in the car!
Well, I'm off to start my day here at work. Talk to you soon!

Wow, the weekends are flying by...

Another weekend gone! Wow! This weekend was somewhat of a great success...
Saturday morning I woke up early because Charles was up making cinnamon waffles. He gets up way too early! But good thing he did, because it made me get up early enough to catch all the good garage sales in Hawaii Kai. I found a lot of stuff and I only spent $11. I found an old upholstered stool that opens up with storage for only $2. I also found some solid wood shelves to paint and some cute flower pots for only $1. I'm going to paint them all and sell them at the craft show. How fun and exciting! :)
Oh and of course I can't leave out the football game....LSU kicked butt against ULL and USC lost to Washington. So now we're one more game down, lots more to go!
On Sunday, Charles and I went to the Garden Center and picked up some rocks and pavers. A while back, I found a grill in the trash pile so I brought it home and it works! We needed a grill too and we have used it three times already....anyway, so we put the pavers next to our patio to set our FREE grill on. Now we have a little "cookout station". Super Cool.
That pretty much sums up our weekend. It always flies by so quickly. And now its Monday again. YUCK! So off to work for me.
XOXOXOXO

Another Perfect Lazy Saturday...

Yesterday was yet another perfect lazy Saturday in the Herndon house. I didn't do anything I did not feel like doing...except for picking Charles up from work around 7 am. YUCK!
I got a lot of my goodwill furniture painted and took some naps and let my honey watch an entire day of football. Geaux Tigers!
Today, we were up yet again at dawn's early break (6:15). I guess it doesn't bother Charles because to him that is PLENTY of sleep. Probably too much! ha ha. So I laid in bed until around 7:30 and he cooked some breakfast. Bourbon and I like to sleep in and snuggle, so we did that! He likes to cook breakfast, so I don't complain. If it were up to me, I would completely skip breakfast and go straight to lunch. I'm not a big breakfast food kinda girl. Bourbon got an egg from daddy, so he was happy!
I am planning on finishing up some of my shabby chic furniture painting for the upcoming craft show. My name is "The Second Pea" from "Two Peas in a Pod" if you didn't get that. I am planning on selling some shabby chic furniture items, scrapbook pages, and possibly some other fun crafty stuff. I'm super excited!
Tripler renewed my contract this week which means I am extended to work there under contract until at least mid December! Yay! This means I don't have to worry about a job at least until then. I like being able to bring home some dough. Maybe that will give me enough time to catch up on some credit cards and add more to our savings. I can't wait.
The car should be here sometime this week, hopefully. I really hope they move quickly and don't work on "island time", but that is a really big HOPE.
We have to run to Best Buy today to buy another power cord for Charles' computer. I hope they carry them in stock. Apparently his broke during the underway. Go figure.
Okay, off to start my wonderful, beautiful, sunny Sunday.

Finally Home...:)

So Charles finally arrived home yesterday. (YAY!) He didn't call me to go pick him up until almost nine o'clock. Apparently some of the guys on the boat did something stupid-AGAIN! This morning he had to be at work by six, so I got up and took him and went back to bed until I had to be up for work. He has duty today, so I will see him tomorrow morning when I have to pick him up. After tomorrow, he has the entire weekend off which will be very nice! I think he even has leave all next week which should be great too!
I wore my LSU scrubs to work today...for team spirit, and hopefully we can watch the game tomorrow! There is one other couple from Louisiana, so we may watch it with them. My car should be here any day now. I can't wait! Bourbon will be super happy too because we will be able to go to the dog park way more often.
It was very nice to have Charles home last night and Bourbon couldn't get enough of him either. He wanted to be right on top of him, but what's new! I think Bourbon is a little jealous, so he gets extra pushy when Charles is home.
Today is payday for me and Monday is our Navy payday. I like it when paydays fall twice that close together! It makes my life a lot easier. I have almost gotten all my bills set up on automatic withdrawal. It is soooo much easier that way. I will try to get some good pictures if Charles is home next week and we go out to do something. I have to work all week, so I don't know how much we will get to do. I wish I didn't have to work so I could see him more. But that's life.
Well, back to work for me. I will keep you updated!

Happy Labor Day Weekend!

Hello everyone!
I hope you are all getting to enjoy the three day weekend. I know I sure am. :) I am planning on going to the beach tomorrow and hopefully getting somewhat of a tan. I do love a good tan!
Bourbon is already up and at 'em this morning. He and the pit bull next door have managed to dig a hole under the fences between our yard. Pretty soon they will be over at each others' houses!
Today is another beautiful day in Hawaii (one of the few good things about this place-the weather!). I'd trade it anyday to be back in Baton Rouge though. Who woulda thought?
My car should be on its way for sure by today. Hopefully it is travelling fast at high speed. I just hope it doesn't sink like the super ferry in the Phillipines the other day! Then again....
I went to a pot luck dinner for the boat wives last night which was pretty nice. A lot of people showed up. We mostly just sat around and talked. But there were a ton of kids there and it was so loud that I couldn't hear myself talk/think and I had to get out. I remember when we were little, we were never allowed to act like that or be that loud when the grown ups had a get-together. We either had to play outside or be good inside in our own room. Separated. What happened to those days? I stayed about three hours and when I left they were still going strong.
Okay, I'm off to relax on the sofa with my pooch.

Aloha!

Aloha! Hope everyone is doing well. I have been soooo busy lately so I apologize for no blogging. Work has been pretty busy and now I am ready to enjoy my three day weekend for the Labor Day holiday! Woo Hoo!
So as far as I know, my lovely little Jetta left Long Beach today on a big, big boat. Hopefully it gets here super fast. I can't wait to drive it instead of Charles' big 'ol car. Just to let you all know, I'm pretty much a pro at stick shifts now. Ha Ha!
Well, I have finally gotten our Kauai pictures up. I hope you enjoy! :) The 1200' zip line
