Hickham Photo Shoot

When you smile, oh when you smile.....

The whole world smiles with you....

When you laugh, oh when you laugh...

I love to laugh with you....

Thanks to the bestie, Kristen, who happens to be an amazing photographer! She snapped some shots of us while at the boat BBQ on Hickham. I love the sailboats in the background. And...what I love even more is that Charles looks genuinely happy-something that is hard to accomplish while attached to the USS Jax! And thank you mom for the super cool LSU shirt you sent me. I love it!
We miss everyone so much. Wish we could be closer, but we are doing fine here!
Only nine more days until the Meme and Pappaw arrive. Can't wait to see some family and can't wait to go to Maui. The only time I seem to go to the outer islands is when family comes! But that is a good reason to go.
I am out of work for the next three weeks, but hopefully they will have a position open up at that time. I am supposed to go to ortho. Not something I'm really looking forward too. I sure will miss working at the general surgery clinic. Can you believe I have worked there for four months. It seems like forever. I have made so many great friends there. I miss them already...and the paycheck!
Love and miss you all!

Monday, Monday...

So once again, Monday has made its way back around into my life. Oh how I wish it wouldn't do that! The weekend was nice, but not nearly long enough. As usual.
Friday night, the boat hosted a boat picnic down by Hickham beach. It was nice, but we got there late since I had to work. Most all the people were gone by the time we were there, but we still managed to get a hot dog and some beer. Overall, a pleasant evening with the others that stayed later like us.
Saturday, Charles had duty and I stayed home most of the day. Pretty boring.
Sunday was also pretty boring and mostly consisted of football and lots of napping.
Today was the first day that Bourbon has stayed alone by himself with no petsitter. I was hoping he wouldn't have an accident. He did fine, but I always worry because I hate leaving him for the ten hours that I go to work.
Our petsitter pretty much told us that we were an "inconvenience" to her. Yeah crazy lady...its called a JOB and that is why we PAY you. Don't even get me started on the things I have to say about her right now. She makes me so super angry by the things she said. But I still have to be polite to her-at least to her face because she is another one of the wives from Charles' boat. Some people, huh?
Friday may be my last day of work for awhile. My position was filled with another contract worker. Hopefully they can find another position for me without any lag time. We really can't afford for me to not work for any amount of time.
Overall, life is going well and I can't really complain about too much else. We sure do miss everyone, though. We are also very jealous that you all have Olive Gardens and Krispy Kremes. Just sayin'.
XOXOXO

These are the images that sorrounded me a year ago this month. The view of downtown Norfolk from the high in the sky office I worked in with wonderful people. The beautiful colorful trees turning with the autumn weather. Crisp, cool air and breezes were all around. A year ago, I could look out my window and see the ships crossing the Chesapeake Bay. A year ago, I could walk across the street and be at the beach. I could hear the bands play at the oyster bar by the marina behind my condo. This is what sorrounded me a year ago.
A year ago this month, I had already made it through five months of my husband's first deployment and was eagerly awaiting his return. A year ago, I was counting down the days I had before I would see his face. I had already traveled halfway across the world to see him just because I wanted to. A year ago this month, I had been married for nearly ten months and seen my husband for barely four. A year ago, I was wondering if my husband would remember what I was like. A year ago this month, I was still only twenty one.
A year ago, I was preparing for my first Thanksgiving and Christmas ever without my family. A year ago, I had made a friend that would turn out to be one of the best people in my life. Even though we had known each other less than five months, it felt like we had known each other forever. A year ago, I was learning more about life than most all my other years put together. A year ago, I was realizing how important family really is.
A year ago, I was still unaware of what I was really in for as a Navy wife. A year ago, I had no idea how far away Hawaii really was. A year ago, I was wondering what was so great about Mr. Obama. A year ago this month, I had already given at least a hundred flu shots.
A year ago, I was thousands of miles closer to my family. A year ago, I could jump in the car and go home if I had the urge. Fourteen hours by car instead of fourteen hours by plane. A year ago, things were different. A year ago, I had absolutely no idea what lie ahead for us. I made it through a year ago. Seems like just yesterday.

This Weekend...

This weekend flew by so fast...Just as most of mine usually do. On a brighter note, Charles was home Saturday and Sunday, so I got to finally spend some time with him. He spent the entire day Saturday watching football and then we went to the Halloween party later that night.
Sunday we just laid around and then I went grocery shopping, which I absolutely hate. It was pure chaos in the commissary. But I brought my coupons and saved $21.97 off my total bill- a total of 17% ! After that, I went to a candle making party at Deb Ragsdale's house. I made a fig and melon scented candle...so yummy smelling! Sunday night, we watched a DVD I bought called "The Proposal". It was such a cute movie...I do love Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds too! After the movie we had our usual Sunday night sushi date downtown. We love sushi! I ate so much that my belly was super full. But so worth it.
Ah, which brings us to Monday. Now I am at work and so begins yet another week.

Halloween Party...

Charles and I went to a Halloween party last night at another couple's house. It was fun to dress up. I was a sexy schoolgirl and Charles was a prisoner...I told him he was a prisoner of the Navy ha ha!

Charles wearing his unibrow we made for him!

Wednesday Night

So tonight is Wednesday. Hump Day. Absolutely nothing exciting happened today. I did pretty much nothing at work which made for a pretty long day. The hubster is home for the night and that is all I have to update. Sorry to disappoint. Check back for some better stuff later.

Team Building Day...

On September 30th, we got to get out of the hospital and on to the beach. We had a day of "team building". But after that, we got to hit the beach. And yes, I got paid for every minute of it. I do love Hawaii sometimes. Building our egg project...
