Merry Christmas People

Hello to everyone! I hope you all enjoyed your holiday as much as we have. Yesterday, Charles got home from duty and we opened our gifts under the tree from Meme and Pappaw! Thank you so much for our goodies! I got an amazing new camera that I love!
Then we laid around the house until about six when we went with some friends to eat Italian at Buca di Peppo. After dinner we headed to watch the new Sherlock Holmes movie. It was long but really good! We had a lot of fun.
So here we are on Saturday. The day of my birthday. I am 23 today! We are planning on hiking Diamond Head with some friends and then BBQing later. I am so excited!
I also bought our plane tickets home earlier. I was waiting for the prices to drop from the $600's. Finally, I gave in and decided to "name my own price" on Priceline.com, and I'm sure glad I did! We got 2 roundtrip tickets on American Airlines for $749.66! Can you believe it???
Well, for those of you who don't know....that is an absolute STEAL for Hawaii airfare. My mother in law claims that I am a genius and I have to admit that I agree with her!
So here is our "schedule" for the loved ones back home:
We will arrive in Houston at *
8:25 am on Monday, January 11,2010. We will spend all day Monday and that night in Houston for those who'd like to meet up with us! Tuesday, we will drive to Baton Rouge and spend the rest of the week until Sunday when we will drive back to Houston. Our plane leaves to come back to Honolulu on Monday morning, the 18th.
We are so excited to come home and see you all! We love and miss you!

Christmastime is here....

Can you believe that Christmas is this week! That means that my birthday is this week too! I'm so excited! We're all moved into the new house and the Christmas tree is up too...I still have a lot of boxes to unpack, but for the most part, all the important stuff is moved in!
I havn't posted any new updates lately, and there are lots of them. Charles made second class during his last underway! That means he has two chevrons instead of just one! He is so excited about that! I'm so proud of him.
On December 9, I went on the dependent's cruise on Charles' submarine. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to go down and tour and ride the sub for an entire day! It was so neat. I got to look through the periscope and see whales jumping in the water! I've never seen anything like it! I also got the chance to fire two water-filled torpedoes. It shakes the entire boat. Who gets the chance to do that? Not everyone, that's for sure. We also did angles and dangles where the boat angled up then angled down and side to side. We dove down and got to truly see what the submarine could do. I have pictures to post of it later, but I am at work now so they aren't saved on this particular computer.
On December 10, we picked up our keys and started moving into our new house. I have to admit, I wasn't expecting Charles to be in the best of moods that day since he had just gotten home the day before and he didn't want to move in the first place. But surprisingly, he was in a good mood and we got most everything moved on the first day. After he had gotten all the heavy stuff, he was through. He then reminded me whose idea it was again to move....sometimes I'd like to kick him. But I know he was tired from the long underway.
I absolutely LOVE our new house. We have a bigger living room where all our furniture actually fits! We also have a garage with lots of storage. My kitchen is smaller, but that's okay. I don't cook too much anyway! I will have some photos of our new home soon when I get it all unpacked.
On December 16, the command hosted a Christmas party for the boat at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel downtown in Waikiki. It was so much fun. It was in a ballroom that opened up to the oceanfront. I love getting dressed up and Charles looked sooo handsome too! We danced a lot, which was the first time since our wedding, I think! So much fun. I also have pics of this which I will post when I get home!
Charles and I also both got new iphones. His is black and mine is white. I love mine and I'm pretty sure he is happy with his too. There are so many things you can do with them and I believe that they are worth every penny. I can access anything that I could from a normal computer at home...just on my phone. It is pretty handy. You can even watch movies, videos, send emails and use it as an ipod.
So now you are up to date on our lives. Christmas is around the corner and my birthday is Saturday. Charles is off for both. So thankful he will be home.
Love you all and miss you too.
