A Code Blue...

So, work went well today...Until my last patient of the day was finished and about to walk out...He turned to me, said he was about to pass out then his eyes rolled back in his head and he fell over into a chair...
I couldn't get his pulse and he was unresponsive, so I called a "code blue". I was alone in the back procedure room with this man croaking over...what was I supposed to do? The Code alarmed throughout the entire hospital and before I knew it, my two docs come bolting down the hallway sliding into doors trying to get into the room...at this point the patient is vomiting profusely with the most insane vomit I have smelled in a while. UGH...Luckily, he has somewhat regained consciousness....
Next the Code Team bombards in the room with the crash cart and we get the patient onto the exam table. In come the ER docs, the Rapid Response Team, the respiratory therapists, the critical care nurse, and a CRNA...Luckily, my doc is an anesthesiologist and quickly got an IV in with fluids and some meds to boost the guys heart rate. His blood pressure came up and pulse rose to the normal range...
Everyone kinda just stood around watching for awhile, all eyes on ME & THE GUY...Me, because I called the code, and him, well, because he was passing out vomiting all over the place...They all eventually shuffled out and went their separate ways. Our patient stabilized and we kept an eye on him until a friend could come drive him home...Whew! What a day......what a scare....My first code blue alone....and I ROCKED! Go me!
Good night people...I'm pooped....

So Close now...

Can I make it? I sure hope so...so close to seeing him again...I can't wait to smell his stinky boat smell and kiss him and touch his skin...Ohhh, I just can't wait. How much longer, you ask? Just right around the corner... If I can just hold on a bit longer...I am so thankful that this is our LAST deployment ever. I don't think I could physically or especially emotionally handle any more of them. I honestly don't know how I have managed to get this far. I know I couldn't have done it without my sweet boys, Bourbon, Oliver and Felix. They keep me company and are ever so good at it.

Thanksgiving is quickly approaching, but when you're this far away from those you love, it's really just another day.....There won't be any of Meme's stuffing or sweet potato souffle'. No sweet tea like she makes it and no banana puddin'. Oh, how I long for us to be home again! We are counting down the months, the weeks, the days. Soon enough, life will be back to normal. I can't wait.....To have our own house, our own schedule and our friends and family. We love you all and miss you dearly.
